Cross Country Skiing and Winter Sports
Simcoe County has some great options for hitting the horizontal ski scene. Cross country skiing is a great work-out, and the perfect way to enjoy a sunny winter day! Rentals, lessons and passes are available at Hardwood Ski and Bike, Horseshoe Resort, Mountain View and Highlands Nordic. Skate or classic, they have a perfect trail for you to discover!
Ice Fishing
Once the open water turns to ice, Lake Simcoe comes alive with more anglers than it sees all three other seasons combined. With several ice hut operators around Ontario’s 6th largest inland lake it makes it easy for families with or without ice fishing experience to try this great winter sport. For active, hard core ice anglers, the quality and quantity of fish available, brings them back year after year.
Ice Fishing is available on Lake Couchiching, Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay. No gear required – contact one of the outfitters below for heated huts and tackle rental information.
Snow Tubing
Simcoe County is the place to be for snow tubing this winter. The resorts supply the tubes and you supply the smiles – no special skills or equipment needed! Fly down the chutes alone or with your family bubble and get whisked back up to the top on a magic carpet. Either way, get your bum in a tube this winter!
Horseshoe Resort and Snow Valley Resort are open for snow tubing throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.

Water levels can also be affected due to weather conditions. Parking is available at the above beaches; however, a fee or permit may be required, so please check with the municipality before arriving. We like to keep our beaches clean and beautiful, so please take only pictures and leave only footprints.
